BARTLETT, Janice Marie - 41, Dartmouth/Tremont, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Iserlohn, Germany, on May 27, 1965, Janice was a daughter of Rosalie M. and the late Frank W. Bruce. Janice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with callings in the Single Adults and Primary programs. She graduated from MRHS in 1983 and studied accounting at Middleton Vocational School, and then took commerce courses at Saint Mary's University. She graduated with honors from NSCC in Public Relations and recently upgraded her computer skills at the Academy of Learning. Janice was a devoted mother to her son, William, and they especially enjoyed flying kites and making crafts together. They also enjoyed their cats, Lila and Sammy. Janice is survived by her loving mother, Rosalie (Manning) Banks, Tremont; her treasured son, William Alexander, age 9; sister, Karen Bruce, Dartmouth; brother, Frank (Biljana), Toronto, Ont.; half-sisters, Agnes Cooke and Katherine (Hank) Vos, Brantford, Ont., and nephews, Alexander and Eric Bruce. Also surviving are stepsisters, Catherine (Merle) Matthews, Sackville; Pamela (Danny) Muise, Tremont; stepbrother, James (Roseann) Banks, Kensington, P.E.I., and their children, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides her father, Janice was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Arleigh and Margaret Banks (Auburn); paternal grandparents, Frank and Beatrice Bruce (Torbrook); cousins, David Cadieux and in infancy, Shannon Banks. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Middleton Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1. Janice will be buried beside her father in Tremont Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Mid-Valley Palliative Care or a charity of choice.
